You guys DO realize that the other one is moving down, and the sign REALLY IS telling you to use an elevator if you want to go up. The Up and Down operate independently.

You guys DO realize, that when escalators shut down, its impossible to walk up them because they are no longer on their tracks and simply slide down their rails... right?
No its like an elevator they have a brake near the motor to stop motion.
but its not stated whats wrong with this one it could be anything such as an electrical short, or the brake itself may have fail cousing it to shudder or jerk violently even under the wieght of a person, so i would go on it if thay claim its unsafe things aren't always as simple as they appear in cases like these.
but they could have just shut the other one off and used it as narrow set stair simple solve but any how

For those of you saying, "I've been here" i guarantee you haven't. I work here this is the Arbor Place Mall in Lithia Springs GA. The other side of it was down the next day for maintenance. They had no sign that said "Escalator is undergoing maintenance. This should be removed from this site as a fail.

Dude.. I've been there there is an elevator to the left right past the stroller rentals... lol whoever put this on here is dumb...just saying!
